Dear Parents/Guardians and Students: Welcome to Sullivan Primary! We are anticipating an exciting year. We look forward to working with you and your child. Our school theme is “The Eagle Way: On the Right Road, Doing the Right Thing.” Our school family promotes a child-centered learning environment in a culture of character, respect and high expectations. The Primary was awarded two promising practices by the Character Education Partnership (CEP) and was chosen as a National School of Character out of 166 schools in the country! Our school will be described in the 2010 National Schools of Character book and on CEP’s website. In 2008 our school was recognized as “Missouri Schools of Character” by Characterplus. We are proud of our growth and accomplishments in this area and will continue the implementation of character practices at the Primary. As a primary school, emphasis is put on an explicit model of effective reading instruction. We are pleased to see continual growth in our reading scores. Please read to or with your child fifteen minutes each night. This has proven to be valuable to your child’s academic growth. We welcome your participation and support during the school year. Please consider becoming an active member of the caring Primary community by joining the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and volunteering for special events. Working together, we will be able to reach our collective goals. We look forward to celebrating your child’s successes. Please feel free to call (468-5446) or stop by anytime. Sincerely, Cindy S. Carey
